A Mother's Love, A Mission Born: The Story Behind Invisible Footprints, Inc.

On July 7, 2021, my world shattered. I was 38 weeks pregnant, eagerly anticipating the moment I would finally hold my son in my arms. I had dreamed of his first cry, his first breath, and the lifetime of love we would share. But instead of hearing his cry, I was met with silence. He was stillborn.

I remember the weight of his tiny body in my arms, the warmth that faded too quickly, and unbearable realization that I had to say goodbye before I ever got to say hello.

No one prepares you for the emptiness that follows. The hospital room that should have been filled with joy felt suffocating. The bassinet meant for my baby remained empty. And then, the haunts me the most I left the hospital empty-handed and heavily heartbroken. No car seat in the backseat, no little fingers wrapped around mine. Just a void that nothing could ever fill.

Walking out of those doors without my baby was the most unnatural, gut-wrenching experience of my life. I didn't just lose my son that day- I lost the future I had imagined with him, the milestones I had dreamed of, the love I had already poured into him. But what hurt even more was the isolation. The world kept moving, unaware that mine had stopped.

In the midst of that pain, Invisible Footprints, Inc. was born. I couldn't change what happened to my son, but I could change how families experience this devastating loss. No parent should navigate this heartbreak alone. I made a promise to my son, to myself, and to every grieving mother and father out there that I would turn my pain into purpose.

Now, Invisible Footprints is dedicated to providing resources, support, and advocacy for families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss. We work to ensure that no family leaves the hospital feeling alone, that healthcare providers are trained to offer compassionate care, and that awareness is raised about the devastating impact of pregnancy and infant loss-especially in communities disproportionately affected.

Every initiative, every bereavement kit, every family we support is in honor of my son. His footprints may be invisible, but his impact will never be.
